My first day in school

This is the first day of school in all public schools in the country. I woke up as early as 6 a.m. right after my Dad and Mom got up to prepare Kuya Renz (my cousin who's staying with us in the house) for school. I was as excited as my Kuya who is an incoming high school freshman.

At first, my mom was hesitant to allow me to go to school. She said i may be too young or still too stubborn to be at school and that sending me to school this early would deprive me of my time to enjoy my childhood. She thinks too that i know a lot already because i have already memorized the alphabet, the different colors, shapes, numbers and can even write my name or draw animals, houses, flowers and many things.

But i insisted. I should go to school.

And so, mom has no choice but to let me be.

After Dad and I accompany Kuya to his school (which is just walking distance from our house), my parents brought me to the nearest Day Care center.

Mom was wary i would not be accepted because it is already first day of school. Good thing the teacher still accepts late enrollees like me as the number of pupils is still below the limit, which is 30 per class.

Now, i'm officially a schoolgirl. And i'm so excited because i'll be having a lot of friends and playmates!

The year that was...

The year 2009 was a year of, well, whatever... But if i haven't mistaken and if my mom (who actually wrote this) remembered her cathechism class back in grade school, this was the year when most of the Sacraments of the Church happened in the family.

In April, my aunt got married in church; in the first week of October, my Lola got sick, was hospitalized and later died and in November, my cousin Mandi was baptist. So we had the sacraments of Marriage, Baptism, and Anointing of the Sick in a year. Of course, Confession and Holy Communion happen regularly among the elderly.

The past year was a year that tested the bond between family members. Lola's interment has gathered all the relatives from and outside Cebu.

Sad but we have to accept that living and dying are just among the stages that people have to pass before we could finally reunite with our Creator. Wherever is Lola now, i believe that she is very much contented and happy--free from all the worldly pain, troubles, problems and heartaches. My only regret is that i was not able to tell her how much i appreciate the way she loved and cared for me. I was looking forward for her to live until i start schooling or i grow old enough and spend more time together but God has other plans for us.

I misses my Lola. I often ask Mom or Dad about her but they tell me she would never come back. And as the days pass by, i slowly get to understand why she has to leave.

Valentines Day treat

"Mommy, Happy Valentine..." i whispered in Mom's ear as i try to wake her up. She was seemed surprised but returned the endearment with a sweet smile (she might be wondering how i learned it. thanks to Dad for being such a good tutor). I may not pronounced/delivered it right but i saw in her face that she's happy. And nothing makes me happier than seeing my parents together--loving and caring for each other, both of them loving me.

The day went on as usual but in the night Dad surprised Mom by inviting her out (of course, with me and my cousin, Kuya Renz). We're supposed to pick her at her office but Dad, I and Kuya enjoyed strolling in Gaisano Metro so Dad "texted" her to just meet us there. Then we went on sight-seeing together and had dinner (where else?) at Jollibee.

After dinner, Dad decided we take a "tartanilla" (horse-drawn carriage) home. We were all excited (Mom, me and Kuya) as it would be a first time experience for us. While on board, Dad was teasing us because he observed that we were all beaming and enjoying the treat. From where we disembarked, we still have to walk several meters to reach home.

While walking (Dad was carrying me on his shoulders), we were awed when the fireworks at the the Crown Regency/Club Ultima suddenly lit the overcast sky. Magnifique! "Wow, nice..." i kept on repeating as i feast my eyes on the marvelous sight that lasted for more than five minutes.

That was my first Valentines Day (i mean, the first time i celebrated it as far as i can recall). And they say the first time is always the most memorable. Indeed, i've proven it true.

At three years, i can already write letters, draw different shapes and even fish! And it's a smiling fish ha..

Someday, i'm gonna be an artist. I'll be the one to fulfill Mom's childhood dream, so i start this early. =D

Sinulog once more

Sinulog is among the most favorite events of the Cebuanos, including me. I'd always love Sinulog and any activity that seems to be a fiesta. I love the gleeful festive atmosphere, the happy people who are enjoying the streetdancing and

the music (most especially the drumbeats, may be because my Dad plays the drums)!

So even if Mom, doesn't like the idea of going out during Sinulog (because it's very hot outside and the streets are teeming with people) she has no choice because i really wanted to go out in the streets and watch.

I saw little children like me dressed like princes and princesses.

"Mommy, look! big big kaayo tawo o.."

The lions really caught my attention.

And there's a dinosaur and an archer Valentina too!

Christmas with Dora!

We were (I was with Mom and Ate Lisiane, my cousin) at the Jollibee-Robinson's when I caught sight of Dora and Boots standees/pictures (whatever they are called). Of course, as a Dora fan, i'll not let the opportunity pass without going near them, touching them (checking if they're real) and having my photo taken with them.

And i love Boots too! I have to because he is Dora's sidekick and best friend.

A visit to Lola

Forty days after we paid our last respects to her, we visited Lola at her resting place at the Mactan Island Memorial Gardens for the "whatever they call it" to offer prayers. The place is so serene and so spacious that appear to be a very large playground for me and my cousins who are also of my age. If Lola was alive, she would really enjoy watching the three of us running around in glee enjoying our freedom.

I'm ready for another backpack adventure (like Dora)!

At first, she was a little bit timid, aloof to greet people especially those she first meet. But once she gets to know the persons around her, like me, she gets bubbly and playful. We may be very much unlike physically (she's a hound, they say i'm a cat) but for me we are half-sisters because we get along very well. We are not like cats and dogs.

i'm back

whew! after one million year, finally, i recovered my log in name and password. whaaaa... it's almost a year since i got lost. and well, i just turned two years old and learned a lot of things since the last time i was here (hehehe). Masuya na pod si Ninang Vatski ani kay English-speaking ko. well, you see i was practicing English since i was inside my Mom's womb. and i'm dreaming of getting a college, post-graduate and master's degree at the Princeton University, Harvard University or Yale University... and that would happen very soon. bleeeeh!

so, watch out for my coming posts. you'll surely enjoy them... wish me luck, that i (er, my Mom) would have ample time to post. hehehe

See my tooth? Nope? Oh Well, you can't see it. It's still too small... And yep, i have tooth. One of my lower incissors (on the right side) has already appeared. My mom discovered it early morning of December 19 (when i was exactly six months and 13 days old) when i was lying on bed doing my morning ritual--shouting (my mom said i am vocalizing) in my aim to rouse everybody from their deep slumber.

Why i say tooth? Because only one of my incissors has appeared so far. The other one, on the left side, may appear in the coming weeks. I am excited coz i can now bite a pandesal, biscuit, and any food the old folks give me. (Mom's note: In this photo, a towel is still wrapped around Diona Mae's head; she has just taken a bath and not donned to do fortune-telling ala Madam Auring)

"666" does this sound eerie to you? Two days from now, December 6, i'll turn 6 months. I was born on June 6, 2006. Good thing i wasn't born 6 a.m. (my mom was rushed to the delivery room at 6 a.m. but she gave birth to me when the clock ticks 7:38) . Whatever this odd (even) numbers mean, who cares? Only God knows. I can't even say i am unfortunate i was born on that day. All i know (as if a really know) is that i make everyone around me happy. That's all that matters. For now.

At the start, my Mom was the one carrying me. Kinda feelin' uncomfortable already (Hilak jud ko run). The priest is telling me: "You'll be a Christian very soon, so be good." (Ok pads, as you wish). :PMy Mom surrendered, she handed me over to my Dad (I'm too heavy for her slim arms). Whaaaaaa... I'ts too hot! Sige kataw-i lang ko ninyo. Tsk! Tsk!
Until i found something to entertain myself. Ummm... my thumb will do for a while. (Hey pads! What's inside you pot? Can i have some of it, i'm too hungry)

Hilak na jud ko! Huhuhu... It's very hot in here. I can no longer bear the heat! Can you take off my clothes? Including this hat? I'm not used to this. This is killing me. PLease... Candles are lit to light my way as i journey through growing up (life). Reminding the "ninangs" and "ninongs" of their obligations as mt second parents--gifts are not only accepted during Christmas and birthdays. Welcome to the Cristian world!
